Coming from a family of nine, these sisters learned to be creative with what they already had -- out of necessity! Since using what you already have is the foundation for interior redesign, technically they have been redesigning all their lives! Homeowners in Sacramento, Placer and El Dorado counties and beyond have experienced a renewed sense of pride in their homes, as they are shown how the things they already own can be redesigned to create a warm and welcoming place for family and friends.

Teri’s keen attention to detail was essential to her previous career as a technical writer and production editor. However, the technical nature of the profession left little room for creative expression, so she nurtured her creative side by sewing, painting and rearranging in her own home and in the homes of friends and family members. Teri became an accomplished seamstress early in life, and it served her well as a young wife and mother, making her home look great while staying on a tight budget.

Rita was an art major in college, with an emphasis on interior design, then graphhic design. She has been working in both areas of design for over 15 years.

As sisters, Rita and Teri went through the training and became Certified Interior Redesign Specialists through the international organization called I.R.I.S. (Interior Redesign Industry Specialists, www.weredesign.com). Because they’d had the opportunity to work together on creative projects their entire lives and their talents compliment each other well, Rita and Teri decided to form a business partnership and Refresh & Refine was formed at the beginning of 2004. In 2007, Rita left the business for family reasons but still helps on jobs when she can.
